There are three easy safety tips to remember.

Home protection means feeling safe and secure from the start. The Alabama Electronic Security Board of Licensure (AESBL) is the state agency that works to protect all Alabamians by licensing home security companies and locksmiths in our state.

That’s why we’ve built this site.  We encourage you to check now to ensure that whichever provider you choose, they have a valid Alabama license.

Tip 1: ask

Always ask the home security representative or locksmith to display proof of licensure in Alabama.

What to do if the company does not show a license

If they’re can’t or won’t show you a license, call the police to report unlicensed alarm installers soliciting in your area.

Tip 2: Check

Check before you hire a new provider. Before you call, you can look them up right here – by name of business OR by zip code.

What to do if the company is unlicensed

If they’re can’t or won’t show you a license, call the police to report unlicensed alarm installers soliciting in your area.

Tip 3: no pressure

Especially if they come door-to-door, a company may encourage you to sign a contract then and there, to take advantage of a “limited time offer” or an installer crew “already in the neighborhood”.

What to do if pressured to buy

Never feel pressured to sign anything. Tell them to leave you materials, and that if you’re interested, you’ll call them at a later time.

Feel free to check the license of a Security or locksmith company now.
